My goal is to teach, support, and empower women to reconnect with their innate wisdom throughout pregnancy and motherhood. I provide comprehensive resources and education that encourage women to trust their instincts, make informed, confident decisions, and advocate for themselves and their families. By fostering self-awareness and knowledge, I help women navigate their journey with clarity, leading to positive, transformative experiences and outcomes for the entire family.

Unfortunately, much of the healthcare system in the United States operates on a liability-driven model. Standard practices and protocols are often designed not with the individual patient’s best interests in mind, but to protect providers and hospitals from potential lawsuits. Additionally, much of modern medicine is focused on "sick care"—addressing symptoms rather than addressing the root causes of health issues. This approach places metaphorical band-aids on underlying problems, leading to a cycle of treatment without true healing.

When healthcare practices are standardized into a one-size-fits-all model, the consequences can be harmful. Patients often leave sicker than they arrived, creating a cycle of repeat visits and chronic conditions that feed the medical and insurance systems. This approach isn’t just inefficient; it’s dangerous.

So, how does this relate to obstetrics and lactation care?

The truth is, no baby is the same as another, and no mother is either. Yet, many of the practices still commonplace in labor and delivery across the U.S. are outdated, not evidence-based, and don’t account for the unique needs of each mother and child. The result? We’re seeing record-high cesarean section rates, a sharp increase in inductions, a 105% rise in postpartum depression over the past decade, and fewer than one in four babies being exclusively breastfed for the first six months of life. Our medical system is failing mothers and babies from prenatal care all the way to that brief six-week postpartum check-in. So, what can we do about it?

The answer is simple: we must educate ourselves. Women have lost touch with understanding their bodies on a deeper, cellular level—and they’re paying the price with hormonal imbalances, fertility issues, and traumatic birth experiences. As a birth and postpartum doula, I’m here to empower you with evidence-based practices, resources, and the knowledge you need to advocate for yourself. I’ll work alongside you, asking the right questions and standing in the gap to ensure your preferences are respected during labor, birth, and beyond. As a Lactation Specialist, I’ll help ensure that your breastfeeding journey starts off on the right foot, and if challenges arise, we’ll work together to create a tailored plan that supports your goals while prioritizing both your physical and mental well-being. Together, we can ensure that your transition into motherhood is as informed, supported, and empowering as possible.
